Labor Union

I. Establishment and Development 

LHU’s Labor Union was established on September 6, 2000, under the Provisional Executive Board led by Chairman Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Van Lam. The first Labor Union Congress took place in 2003. The Congress elected the Executive Board the 1st term with five members and the Chairman Diep Cam Thu. Overcoming initial difficulties and ups and downs, so far the Union has been developing with certain results, remarkably contributing to the University’s emulation movement and highly appreciated as an excellent Union by the National Education Union of Vietnam in Union's activities of private universities.

II. Functions and Responsibilities 

The Labor Union performs three main functions:

1. Caring and protecting legal and legitimate rights of University personnel, as their representatives. 

​- Acting as a counselor for the University administration to supervise the observance of regulations, salary and bonus payments and other practices related to the legitimate rights of Union members. Settling complaints and conflicts of union members.

- Cooperating with the University Management Board to organize Laborer Conferences, upholding democratic rights and ensuring the legal interests of laborers.

- Offering laborers opportunities to get higher education and take part in various activities and programs as well as to enjoy benefits.

2. Participating in management work, in control and supervision of University's units.

- Coordinating with the University Management Board to hold regulations classes.

- Joining hands with other units to hold seminars or conferences on scientific research, experience initiatives,....

3. Educating and encouraging staff to bring into play their rights to mastery, to implement obligations as citizens for national construction and defense.

- Widely reinforcing political thought education.

- Regularly holding political classes in order to raise and improve staff's awareness and revolutionary ethics.

- Actively participating in social activities and charity programs.

III. Accomplishments

Throughout the years, the University Labor Union has remarkably gained a lot of contributions and achievements as follow:

- 2009 - 2010 Certificate of merit for the excellent unit by the Prime Minister.

- 2009 - 2010 Emulation Flag for the excellent unit by The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL).

- Certificate of merit for its excellent achievements in emulation movements by the VGCL.

- Campaign medal for its contributions to the Labor Union's development by the VGCL.

- Certificate of merit for excellent achievements in the Labor Union's activities on its 60th anniversary by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET).

- Certificate of merit for good implementation of education supporting campaigns in rural areas by the MOET.

- Award Flag of its excellent Labor Union for successive years (2004 - 2012) by the National Education Union of Vietnam (NEUV)

- 2005 - 2007 Certificate of merit for women collective in movement " Good at state affair, responsible housework" by the NEUV.

- 2007 Certificate of merit for typical staff family by the NEUV.

- 2005 - 2010 Certificate of merit for the campaign "Democracy, Rules, Affection, Responsibilities" by the NEUV.

- Certificate of merit for excellent unit in the campaign "Each teacher is a moral, self-taught and creative example" by the NEUV.

- Certificate of merit for excellent unit in Union's activities 2010 - 2011 by the NEUV.

- Certificate of merit for some excellent individuals in Union work 2011 - 2012 by the NEUV.

- Certificate of merit for excellent task fulfillment for 5 years (2005 - 2010) by Dong Nai provincial People's Committee.

- Certificate of merit for charity work from 2009 to 2011 by Dong Nai provincial People's Committee.

- Certificate of merit for excellent achievements in blood donation campaigns by Dong Nai province's Red Cross Association.
